New Glasses for the New Year

January 2nd, 2021

It’s that time of the year when many of us start to think about how we’re going to improve our lives in the year to come. With 2020 behind us, and a slew of hopes and dreams for 2021, remember to focus on your eyes by scheduling your annual comprehensive eye exam and picking up that fresh new pair of glasses!

What’s important when you’re buying a new pair of eyeglasses? What do you need to know?

The most important part of buying a new pair of eyeglasses is first to find an eye care professional who has plenty of time for you and provides you with detailed information and advice. Your glasses are very personal and unique items of everyday use that should be perfectly tailored to you and your lifestyle. Moreover, there are many different factors that influence how well you actually see with your new glasses.

No matter what kind of eyeglasses you purchase, the following points are crucial when making your selection:

  • The purpose of the new glasses – provide details about the conditions in which you will be wearing your eyeglasses, both professionally and privately.
  • Share if you have any diseases that may affect your eyes.
  • Describe what you did and didn’t like about your old pair of glasses.
  • Discuss the types of lens coatings that are appropriate for you.

Once you determine the proper lenses, the frames you choose should match your personal style, but also be appropriate for your vision needs. This season there are plenty of fun and colorful frames. Make sure you try on different styles to find out which materials and shapes are the best for you. The goal is to find glasses that are comfortable to wear, offer better functionality, and have fashion advantages.

Consult your eye care professional about lens enhancements such as anti-reflective coatings, hard coatings, tints and filters. These offer additional functionality and protection and can help to adapt your glasses even more precisely to your specific needs.

Whatever your resolutions are for 2021, taking care of your eyes and purchasing vibrant, fun glasses are attainable goals that will carry you confidently though the year.
